Absolute Loneliness Post #2
If you think you’re lonely now, just you wait until tomorrow…

Desperate
I can’t remember if I posted this before or not. I think not. Anyways, Michael Sterling put out this tune in 1983, but then again in like 1990 or something. Another thing I can’t remember. I must say, I kind of like the later version better. I think this version is only available on Amazon. Anyways, he served some time because his girlfriend wanted some expensive things. And he stole...

You're Doing It
A ‘Welcome’ era outtake that was my tribute to the black sheep of the disco world, Gary Davis. Well, I guess it’s not a tribute because Gary is alive and more than well. In fact, he makes awesome vampire martial arts films now.

Get On Down
Not sure if people realized, but there was a time when Gary Davis left his mark on female-fronted Miami bass records. He even gets a shout-out at the two minute mark.

Wild Bunch
I’m confused by this one, because it is definitely from a West Coast rap cassette, but it is by a group called ‘781’ which is a Boston area code. Mixed messages. The flute line is beyond good.

Maximillian Stroll
Found this weirdo boogie record by Jimmi at the wondrous Kstarke Records in Chicago. Always a goldmine for rare (and beat-up) records. This copy of mine has a crack in it, but if you press it together just right, it’s hard to notice. Well, actually, that’s not true. It’s pretty beat up. But the song is good, so I hope you enjoy.

JP Failed Rap Beats #1: 2004-2008 + one from 2001
I bring forth the first installment of the Beat Archive; a 51-piece vast collection of oddities, soddities, and heresies from back in the days when I thought I could be a rap producer. Never worked out so well. But regardless, I hope you enjoy. Feel free to use for your own purposes, and spread around.
[ed. note: this was originally titled JP Beat Archive #1: 2001-2007, but upon further...

Be My Digital
Another incredible oddity from the land of CDBaby, courtesy Gfunk feat. Mr. Polo, Alize, and Bishop.
Dirrrty....
Another one by special request. The followup 45 to ‘Do You Love Me Girl?’ by none other than the infamous Johnny B. One of the world’s most unique slices of beautiful, off-key modern funk. Please enjoy.

Flying Bird
And by special request… A local Seattle steel-drum band, Tropical Rainstorm, doing their slightly eerie, yet infinitely beautiful version of Osibisa’s ‘Flying Bird.’ For those of you in the Seattle area, this record is still floating around.
Carhartt Mix
This is a mix I did at the end of last year for Carhartt Radio to support an Aloe Blacc tour. Kind of a “best of” new Stones Throw stuff… Got some MED, Madlib, MHE, Freddie Gibbs, Oh No, vintage PB Wolf, Vex Ruffin, Nite Jewel and all adat. Hope you enjoy.
Life Is Life
Thanks to PBWolf for introducing me to this lovely piece of inspiration…
Been so long...
Today’s message of absolute loneliness comes courtesy of the Faster Boyz. Set to a bounce beat.

Sunday's Good Word
Nice string-synth driven crooner soul by Freddie Watson 7” on the Eloy label. Picked this up at the one and only Kstarke in Chicago. Enjoy and embrace the light.
The Hunk
There was a time when Bobby Brown was loved by girls everywhere.
Chilly Tranquilly
Before ‘Jam On It,’ before ‘Space Is The Place,’ before Newcleus even - there was Positive Messenger. And this wonderful song, ‘Chilly Tranquilly.’
I Care About You
Here we are at the next installment of our gospel series. One from the 80s side of Otis G Johnson, who also put out several highly-coveted, ghostly, reverb heavy gospel records in the 70s. This one is slick. Stay tuned for more in the coming weeks…
Wood Grain
JUST got back from a successful Italian vacation, so sorry for the lack of updates. The last person to leave a comment on the blog requested more from the likes of “Big Moe” and “Big Tuck.” Daniel, I’ve got you covered. I just put this one on a FACT Mix I recently did, but here is the song from Mr. Marcellus, A.C. Burna, Nicky 2 States, Prime Time, Pluck & Money...

Here’s another unreleased one from the outtakes of my last record (the red one). It’s noisy and I hope you like it.
Let Us Get Down On Our Knees
I remember one day wading through a bunch of UK dance 12”s in one of the many London Record Exchange stores, looking for who know’s what. Amidst a pile of rave throwaways, I stumbled across a generic looking LP with no cover on the Truth label by a Ms. Verna Leonie Powell. I bought the thing for one pound, as the label was off-white with green text - always a winning combination....
Nautilus
For gray rainy days, I bring to you a slice of cosmic-sea surf rock from B. Bumble and The Stingers - an LA-based session band known for their ‘Nut Rocker’ single. This song, however, is much, much better.
Never To See The Light of Day
Here is a psych mix I did for the good friends at Rush Hour, although I scrapped it at the last minute and did a disco mix instead. My wife didn’t like this one. Tracklist: Hawkwind - 10 Seconds To Forever Aleph - Toccata The Animated Egg - Sock It My Way Ultimate Spinach - Ballad Of The Hip Death Goddess Doris - You Never Come Closer The Glass Family - House of Glass The Seeds - Two...

We Gather Together
Time for our second installment from the late, great Father Peter Scholtes, recorded in a basement of a Chicago parrish with a youth choir. The whole record is incredible. Trust me. Stand by for more in the coming weeks.

By request… Ladies and gentlemen… Representing the New Horizon label… These are a talented young bunch of kids… Give a warm welcome for…. Silk, Satin, and Lace!
Lollipop Girl
Bobby G is an Mtume sampling soul artist from Tacoma - little else is known. Found a couple copies of these in Seattle. Promptly put it on a mix with Dam Funk entitled ‘Chart Toppers.’ Girls like it.
Detroit Otto Show
CDBaby is tops. That’s the future of record hunting right there. Seriously. Thank you CDBaby for introducing me to the wonders of MCRElectric Otto.

Teenage Girls
Seems like borderline pedophiliac songs were the norm back in the day. I’ve got a pretty good list going. Gary Puckett’s ‘Young Girl.’ Biz Markie’s ‘Young Girl Bluez.’ Ritchie Valens ‘Little Girl.’ That one BDP song about 13 year olds. I’ve got about 20 more I can rattle off. Here is one more to add to the list. This one comes from...
Baton Rouge, where my aunt is from...
And where this rapper, Monteque, is also from.
